The outbreak produced tornadoes from Texas to South Carolina, and as far north as Illinois. Alabama was hardest-hit; the outbreak is considered to be the deadliest ever in the state, and among the worst ever in the US, trailing only the Tri-State Tornado in 1925 and the Tupelo-Gainesville Outbreak in 1936 whilst producing a similar number of fatalities to the 1974 Super Outbreak. Over 330 people were killed in the 1932 Deep South tornado outbreak, including 268 in Alabama alone. |
