He conquered Kent on behalf of his father in 825, and became King of Kent . When he took over from his father as King of Wessex in 839, he became King of Wessex, Kent, Cornwall, the West Saxons and the East Saxons. He was crowned at Kingston upon Thames. His children included Ethlebald of Wessex, Ethlebert of Wessex, Ethlered of Wessex and Alfred the Great. |
