| has gloss | deu: Die Algodones-Dünen sind ein etwa 83 km langes und bis zu 9,5 km breites Dünenfeld im Südosten Kaliforniens (Imperial County). Sie liegen in etwa zwischen den Städten Niland im Nordosten und Algodones, einer der nördlichsten Städte Mexikos. Sie verlaufen also parallel zum Südabhang der Chocolate Mountains und sind ein Teil der Sonora-Wüste. Die Algodones-Dünen weisen mit 25 mm durchschnittlichem Jahresniederschlag bei 18,3°C Jahresmitteltemperatur sogar vollarides Wüstenklima auf. Der Sand stammt vermutlich vom Strand des ehemaligen Cahuillasees im Imperial Tal. Die Dünen wurden vor allem von den starken Nordwestwinden im Winter geformt.
