The sheerness of the cliff prevented roads running through thus the spot marks an interruption of Spadina Road. Along the top of the cliff some of Toronto's most exclusive homes were constructed including Casa Loma and Spadina House.

Крутизна уступа не позволяла строить по нему дороги, из-за этого обычно прямые улицы города обходят эту возвышенность кругом. Наверху горы были построены самые роскошные исторические здания Торонто, включая замок "Каса Лома" (Casa Loma) и особняк «Спедайна» (Spadina House). Изначально лестница была деревянной.
