It is situated at the mouth of a tidewater channel flows either in or out of the Island's sizable lagoon (lagoa). This tidewater channel is at the end of a long sweeping beach called praia de Moçambique that is a popular destination. There are several points of interest: There is a pedestrian-only bridge across the tidewater channel. It was completely renovated and strengthened in 2007. On the far side of the bridge there are many houses. There is a tiny beach around the corner from the mouth of the tidewater channel. *There are many paderias, bakeries which bake fresh pastries on a daily basis, and two fruit and vegetable stands for economical.
