has gloss | eng: CBS 30th Street Studio, also known as Columbia 30th Street Studio, was an American legendary recording studio. It was located at 207 E 30th Street, New York City and it formerly was an Armenian-Greek Orthodox church. In 1949, the afore-mentioned church was transformed into a recording studio. "There was one big room, and no other place in which to record", John Marks says. It was at the time one of the most renowned studios and a large number of recordings were made there; among the others, Davis Kind of Blue, Bernsteins West Side Story and Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited. "It was huge and the room sound was incredible" recalls a sound technician . "I was inspired", he continues "by the fact that, aside from the artistry, how clean the audio system was." |
