has glosseng: Carrowdore is a small village in County Down, Northern Ireland, on the Ards Peninsula. It lies within the Ards Borough Council area. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 816 people. Carrowdore also has the widest main street in the United Kingdom and once boasted the widest main street in Europe. The village is growing at a very fast rate and good and BIG things are in store.The village also annually hosts Ballywalters young farmers barbecue, which is situated in Mr James Coulters farm approx.1/2 mile outside Carrowdore. This event attracts Young farmers from all over the province including as far away as Enniskillen or Ballymena, a few hundred people come to the disco/BBQ on an annual basis,its also the largest young farmers barbecue in the province. Strangford Integrated College is situated in Carrowdore, which educates approx. 620 pupils. There is also a primary school, Carrowdore Primary School which educates approx. 150 pupils in the grounds with the primary school is a playgroup' nursery , which hosts to approx. 30-40 young children.
