Im Zusammenhang mit der Sklaverei wurde dieser Begriff als Negro Cimarrón auf entlaufene Sklaven (afrikanischer Herkunft) angewendet, die rechtlich den Haustieren gleich gestellt waren. Die englische Bezeichnung Maroon ist aus dem Spanischen abgeleitet. |
