has glosseng: Claudia Severa was the wife of Aelius Brocchus, commander of a fort (unknown) near the Roman fort of Vindolanda (Chesterholm) in northern England around 100AD. She is best known for the birthday invitation she sent to Sulpicia Lepidina, wife of Flavius Cerialis, commander at Vindolanda, which was written in ink on a wooden tablet found during excavations at Vindolanda in the 1970s. The invitation is thought to be the oldest extant writing by a Roman woman found in Britain, or indeed anywhere. References
