has gloss	eng: Expert Group 6 (Statistics) (EBES EG6) was the body that in the 90s developed GESMES (GEneric Statistical MESsage) and other messages (e.g. CLASET) aiming at standardising the exchange of statistics. EG6 was a Group working under the European Board for EDI Standardization (EBES). The work of the EBES EG6 Group was supported to a large extent by the European Commissions statistical office (Eurostat). Since 2000 the work on standardising the sharing and exchange of statistics gradually moved under the umbrella of the SDMX initiative.
