| has gloss | eng: East Talpiot is a neighborhood in southeastern Jerusalem, established in 1973 in the upswing of building that followed the Six-Day War. Due to its location over the Green Line in an area designated "no mans land" in the 1949 armistice between Israel and Jordan, the United Nations and European Union consider it an illegal Israeli settlement. However, Israel disputes this, instead classifying it as a neighborhood in the municipality of Jerusalem. East Talpiot is considered one of Jerusalems "ring neighborhoods". History Before the new housing projects built after 1967, the area was known as Armon Hanatziv (lit. Governors Palace) after the headquarters of the British High Commissioner located on the hilltop. In 1928, Rachel Yanait Ben-Zvi, wife of Israels second president Yitzhak Ben-Zvi, established an agricultural training farm for young women, the first of its kind in the country, in the area of East Talpiot. Both the farm and the Arab Girls College, another historical landmark, are earmarked for conservation. The Lili and Elejandro Shaltiel Community Center was inaugurated in 1980. Beit Canada, an absorption center for new immigrants, is located in East Talpiot. |

| has gloss | heb: תלפיות מזרח היא שכונה בדרום-מזרח ירושלים, אשר נוסדה בשנות ה-70, כחלק מתוכנית שכונות הטבעת הירושלמית. מספר תושביה הוא כ-15,000 איש. שמה של השכונה בפי רוב תושבי העיר הוא ארמון הנציב, על שם המבנה הממוקם בגבולה הצפוני של השכונה. השכונה ממוקמת כ-4 ק"מ ממרכז העיר. רחובות השכונה קרויים על שמם של עולי הגרדום, וזהו שמו של אחד הרחובות המרכזיים בשכונה. מיקום וטופוגרפיה השכונה ממוקמת על שני רכסי ההרים בולטים המחוברים ביניהם על ידי גיא (אמפיתיאטרון טבעי). המדרון התלול עליו בנוי השכונה הוא חלק מהירידה החדה של הרי יהודה לכיוון ים המלח. השכונה מהווה ישות אורבאנית נפרדת משכונות תלפיות וארנונה המצויים ממערב לה. מצפון לשכונה מצויים ארמון הנציב וטיילת האז, ואילו ממזרח היא גובלת בשכונות הערביות ג'בל מוכאבר וצור באהר. קיבוץ רמת רחל שוכן מדרום-מערב לשכונה, ואילו על אדמותיו, המצויים בדרום השכונה, מוקמים כעת המבנים החדשים שלה. |
