He is a New York doctor and the supposed grandson of Victor Frankenstein, the protagonist of the 1818 novel Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley. Initially repulsed by his grandfather's work in recreating life from decaying flesh, he is ultimately inspired to carry on the experiments and creates a creature of his own. Frederick Frankenstein was portrayed by Gene Wilder in the film and by Roger Bart in the musical. |
