has gloss	eng: The Fryderyk is the annual award in Polish music. Its name refers to the original Polish spelling variant of Polish composer Frédéric Chopins first name. Its status in the Polish public can be compared to the American Grammy and the UKs BRIT Award. Officially created in 1994 and presented for the first time in 1995, the award was initially conferred by the Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry (Związek Producentów Audio-Video, ZPAV). Since 1999, nominees and winners have been selected by a body called Phonographic Academy (Akademia Fonograficzna) which by now consists of more than 800 artists, journalists and music industry professionals. Voting is anonymous and takes place in two rounds: In the first round, all Academy members can nominate five artists in each category, in the second round, members can vote for one candidate in each category from the most successful nominees established in the first round.

has gloss	deu: Der Fryderyk ist der wichtigste polnische Musikpreis. Er wird jährlich von der Phonographischen Akademie vergeben und spiegelt wesentliche Teile des polnischen Kulturlebens im vorangegangenen Jahr wider. Zum ersten Mal wurde der Preis 1995 (für das Jahr 1994) vergeben. Die Verleihung erfolgt in einer Vielzahl von Kategorien, darunter den innerpolnischen "Song des Jahres", "Album des Jahres", "Sänger des Jahres", "Sängerin des Jahres", "Band des Jahres" und "Debüt des Jahres". Die Abstimmung erfolgt in zwei Runden. Nach einer ersten Abstimmungsrunde innerhalb der Musikakademie werden gewöhnlich fünf Vorschläge in jeder Kategorie nominiert. In der zweiten Runde stimmt jedes der etwa 700 Mitglieder für jeweils einen Vorschlag. Die Preise werden im März eines jeden Jahres verliehen.

W jej skład wchodzi ponad 800 artystów, dziennikarzy muzycznych i profesjonalistów z polskiej branży fonograficznej. Nazwa nagrody nawiązuje do imienia polskiego kompozytora, Fryderyka Chopina.
