Sułtanat Omanu jest suchym i pustynnym regionem Azji, gdzie zdecydowana większość tego pustynnego kraju stanowią wyznawcy islamu. Ziemie dzisiejszego Omanu zostały podbite przez Arabów wyznających religię Mahometa. Kraj ma za sobą wojnę domową, której przyczyną był spór o dominację nad krajem. Od roku 1970 nazwę kraju zmieniono na Sułtanat Omanu. Obecnie kraj ten jest monarchią absolutną, którą rządzi sułtan, zaś prawo w kraju ustanowione na podstawie prawa koranicznego i po części brytyjskiego. Oman w przeciwieństwie do swojego sąsiada Arabii Saudyjskiej jest przyjazny dla zagranicznych gości. Poza wpływami z ropy naftowej, gospodarka czerpie spore dochody właśnie z turystyki. |
