| has gloss | eng: Ginko Financial was a Ponzi scheme on the social networking video game Second Life. It offered the option to invest Linden Dollars into what was called a "bank". After policy changes made by Linden Labs, which restricted in-world gambling, a large number of investors demanded their investments. When Ginko Financial could not comply, it was confirmed that the bank was actually a Ponzi Scheme; a scam in which old investors are paid out with new investors' deposits. It is estimated that over $700,000.00 USD were lost in the Ponzi Scheme. |
