has gloss	eng: Hardtechno refers to a style of Techno, which evolved after 2000 from Schranz and Hardcore Techno. While the first harder Techno productions appeared around 1991 on labels such as PCP and Industrial Strength, these were referred to as Hardcore Techno. Over the years, the Hardcore scene cultivated a new sound far away from its Techno origins, whereas Techno itself went in a softer direction. At the end of the 1990s, fueled by the Schranz movement, a new, extremely hard style of Techno became popular, which is now generally referred to as Hardtechno. This style runs at very high bpm, usually 150 or more and features heavy distortion and prominent kickdrums. By 2007, almost all major European Techno festivals, such as I Love Techno, Awakenings, MayDay, Nature One, Mysteryland featured a Hardtechno stage or at least one Hardtechno artist. It has also been the main focus of festivals like "Hardtechno Festival" in Vienna (attendance 2,000+) or Syndicate in Dortmund (attendance 10,000). The style is most prominently represented by DJs/producers, DJ Amok, Sven Wittekind, ViperXXL, Robert Natus, Arkus P, and Boris S.

Esimene raskem techno produktsioon ilmus aastal 1991 selliste plaadifirmade alt nagu PCP ning Industrial Strength. Seda liigitati Hardcore Techno alla. Aastate möödudes, hardcore kulmineerus uueks soundiks, mis oli veelgi kaugemal technost, kui samal ajal techno ise muutus pehmemaks. 90-ndate lõpus, mõjutatud schranz liikumisest, uus, eriti karm techno stiil sai populaarseks, mida aga nüüd nimetatakse Hardtechnoks. Tegu on väga kiire stiiliga, umbes 150-170 lööki minutis on tavaline, sageli leidub distortitud hääli ning võimsaid kicke võimsa bassiga. Aastaks 2007, peaaegu kõik suured Euroopa techno festivalid, näiteks I Love Techno, Mayday, Nature One, Mysteryland jne., sisaldavad vähemalt ühte hardtechno lava või artisti. Hardtechno peamised DJ'd/produtsendid on DJ Rush, Robert Natus (teda peetakse ühtlasi ka hardtechno loojaks, mitte segi ajada Eesti arhitektiga), Felix Kröcher, Sven Wittekind, Boris S, Viper XXL, Frank Kvitta, DJ Amok, Matt M. Maddox, Arkus P, Tomash Gee, Leo Laker, Greg Notill, Seema, Hilarious, O.B.I., Reset, Marcel Costeau, freQuency, Pet Duo, DJ Ocram jne.
