In other words a collection of pitches by starting with a certain note and going up by a certain interval until the original note is reached (e.g. starting from C, going up by 3 semitones repeatedly until eventually C is again reached - the cycle is the collection of all the notes met on the way). In other words, interval cycles "unfold a single recurrent interval in a series that closes with a return to the initial pitch class".

has gloss	nno: Ein intervallsyklus er innanfor musikken ei samling av tonar som ein finn ved å starta på ein bestemt tone, for så å gå opp med eit bestemt toneintervall til ein er tilbake på oktaven over tonen som var utgangspunktet. Intervallsyklusen er då altså alle dei tonane som er med på vegen. Eit eksempel kan vera å starta på C, og gå oppover med tri halvtonar til ein treff C igjen. Då vil tonane C, Eb, Gb og A (Bbb) vera med i syklusen.
