Hierbei ist mit intrathekal der Raum unterhalb der harten Hirnhaut (Dura mater), also der Liquorraum gemeint. Bei verschiedenen therapeutischen Verfahren werden dort Wirkstoffe injiziert, etwa im Rahmen einer Chemotherapie oder bei Anästhesieverfahren.
