| has gloss | eng: Kulashekhara was an Indian King from modern day Kerala and one of the Alvars, a prominent group of Vaishnava saints. From historical estimates it is believed he lived in or around the 8th century. Born in the asterism Punarvasu as Kulaśekhara Varma, he was king of the Chera Dynasty and lived in Kollam in Kerala. After ruling for a few years, he gave up his throne, became a sanyasi and is revered as the 9th of the alvars (one of 12 mendicant saints venerated by South Indian Sri Vaishnavism) and wrote bhakti songs filled with yearning towards God called paasurams which are an important part of Carnatic classical music repertory. A great devotee of Rama, he considered the painful experiences of Lord Rama to be his own. He is therefore also known as ‘Perum-al’, meaning ‘The Great’ – which is usually the epithet for the Lord. His devotion was so intense that he worshipped the devotees of the Lord as the Lord Himself. He lived in Srirangam and was serving the deity Ranganatha in the temple there. |

| has gloss | tam: குலசேகர ஆழ்வார் பன்னிரு ஆழ்வார்களில் ஒருவர். இவரைக் குலசேகரப் பெருமாள் என்றும் அழைக்கின்றனர். பிறப்பு இவர் பிறந்த ஊர் கேரளத்தில் கொடுங்களூருக்குத் தெற்கில் மூன்று கிலோமீடர் தொலைவில் உள்ளது. அவ்வூருக்கு தற்காலத்திய பெயர் திருக்குலசேகரபுரம். அதற்கு வெகு அருகாமையில் கேரளப்பாணியில் கட்டப்பட்ட ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணர் கோவில் ஒன்று உளது. அதை குலசேகரர்தான் கட்டியிருப்பார் என்பது அவ்வூரார் நம்பிக்கை. இவரது ந்ட்சத்திரம் புனர்பூசம். இவர் திருமாலின் கௌஸ்துப அம்சம் பொருந்தியவர். |

| has gloss | tel: పన్నెండుమంది ఆళ్వార్లలో ఒకడైన కులశేఖర ఆళ్వార్‌ పునర్వసు నక్షత్రమున జన్మించాడు. అతను చేర సామ్రాజ్యాన్ని పరిపాలించాడు. గొప్ప రామభక్తుడైన అతను రాముని కష్టాలు తన స్వంత కష్టములుగా భావించేవాడు. అందువలన అతనిని ‘పెరుమాళ్‌’, (అంటే ‘అతి గొప్పవాడు’ – సాధారణముగ వెంకటేశ్వరస్వామికి ఉపయోగించే పేరు) అనికూడా పిలిచేవారు. అతని భక్తి ఎంత తీవ్రమైనదంటే స్వామి భక్తులను సాక్షాత్తు స్వామివలే పూజించేవాడు. అతను శ్రీరంగములో నివసిస్తూ అక్కడి ఆలయములో రంగనాథ స్వామి సేవచేస్తుండేవాడు.ఈయన వేంకటేశ్వరస్వామి ని నీ గర్భగుడి ముందు గడపగా నైనా పడివుండే వరమీయమని అడిగితే స్వామి తదాస్థు అన్నారట.నేటికీ తిరుమల లో గర్భగుడి ద్వారాని కున్న గడపని కులశేఖర పడి అని అంటారు. ఇతడు ముకుందమాల అను భక్తి స్తోత్రాన్ని సంస్కృతంలో రచించాడు. |
