| has gloss | eng: The Lika cap (Croatian: Lička kapa, Serbian Cyrillic: личка капа) is a traditional cap used together with the folk attire of the Lika region in Croatia. The hat has a round shape with a flat top; the top color is red while the area around the side is black, often with tassels hanging down the back. The hajduks of Lika is said to have used this cap when fighting the Ottoman Turks. The Coat of arms of Croatia (Šahovnica) is often adorned on the cap, and is worn as part of the Croatian national costume of Lika. The Serbs from the region also wear the cap, but with the Serbian cross or the Serbian eagle on the top. It is similar in style to the Montenegrin cap. |
