| has gloss | eng: The fifth UK series of The X Factor was broadcast on ITV during 2008. It premiered on 16 August and continued through to 13 December 2008. Auditions in front of producers were held in April/May, with callbacks in front of the judges in June. Listed are the 12 finalists who participated in the live finals. Out of the final twelve, Bad Lashes, Girlband, Scott Bruton, Austin Drage, Laura White, Daniel Evans, Rachel Hylton, Ruth Lorenzo and Diana Vickers were the nine acts to be eliminated before the grand finale. Alexandra Burke, Eoghan Quigg and JLS were the contestants who made it to the last show. Eoghan Quigg, coming third, was eliminated first on the night of the grand finale on December 13 and then Alexandra Burke was declared the winner with JLS being the runners-up. |
