Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) (2004) after Bruce D. Marsh, geologist, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD; United States Antarctic Program (USAP) investigator of Basement Sill at McMurdo Dry Valleys sites in seven field seasons, 1995-2005.
