It is the third major reason involving the breasts for which women seek medical attention, after breast lumps and breast pain. The risk of nipple discharge increases with both age and number of pregnancies, but is also known to occur in adolescent boys and girls going through puberty. Discharge often is the result of stimulation of the breasts or by irritation through clothing.

has gloss	ara: التخريج الحلمي هو الاٍفراز الشاذ للسوائل من حلمة الثدي، وهو السبب الأساسي الثالث المتعلق بالأثداء الذي تحتاط منه النساء طبيا، بعد الأورام وآلام الثدي، يزداد خطر التخريج الحلمي مع كل من السن وعدد حالات الحمل، لكن من المعلوم أنه يصيب المراهقين والمراهقات الذين يمرون بسن البلوغ. والتخريج الحلمي ينتج عادتا بسبب تحفيز الأثداء أو الاٍستثارة من خلال الملابس. أنواع التخريج يوجد عدة أنواع من التخريجات: * اللون الأبيض الغيمي : عموما يمكن أن يكون ثر اللبن. * اللون الأبيض الفاتح : الحمل * أحمر يحتوي الدم : غالبا ينجم عن اٍصابة الأثداء أو الورم الحليمي داخل القنوات، ويمكن أن يكون سرطان ثديي. * أبيض مصفر، أصفر، أو أخضر : قيح ناتج عن الاٍصابة
