has gloss | eng: Pallanchathanur is a small village in Palakkad district, Kerala, India. This village is home to the Kandam Kandath house, one of the 16 remaining houses(joint-families) out of the 18 houses(padinettu veedu) which once existed. Each of the 18 houses represented one Mannadiar joint family. Two houses from the Padinettu veedu perished because of not having even a single female descendent(because, according to the Mannadiar tradition, only the female offsprings of a family member is liable to pass-on the Mannadiar title to the next generation). Therefore, the Kandam Kandath house is one of the 16 only existing Mannadiar joint families. |
