has gloss	eng: Powder of sympathy was a form of sympathetic magic, current in the 17th century in Europe, whereby a remedy was applied to the weapon that had caused a wound in the hope of healing the injury it had made. The method was first proposed by Rudolf Goclenius, Jr. and was later expanded upon by Sir Kenelm Digby. An abstract of Digbys theory is found in an address given before an assembly of learned men in Montpellier, France, and which is discussed in Pettigrews Superstitions Connected with Medicine and Surgery. The recipe for the powder is: "take Roman vitriol [copper sulphate] six or eight ounces, beat it very small in a mortar, shift it through a fine sieve when the sun enters Leo; keep it in the heat of the sun and dry by night." has gloss	deu: Waffensalbe (auch Sympathetisches Pulver) ist ein altes magisches Heilmittel für durch Waffen verursachte Wunden. Im Rahmen der Vorstellungswelt des Animalischen Magnetismus hatte sich im Zeitalter des Barock der Glaube gebildet, dass man solche Wunden mit einer metallischen Substanz bedecken und dann durch Behandlung mit einem Magneten heilen könne. Die "Waffensalbe" sollte alle durch scharfe Waffen verursachten Wunden heilen, soweit diese nicht das Herz, das Gehirn oder die Arterien verletzt haben. Gelegentlich findet man sogar die Vorstellung, alleine die Behandlung der Waffe (Schwert, Dolch o.ä.) genüge, um die durch sie geschlagenen Wunden zu beeinflussen.

Son efficacité fut lobjet dune longue et importante polémique au , au cours duquel en apparu une variante, appelée Poudre de sympathie, à base de vitriol calciné, et qui fut popularisée en France par l'anglais Kenelm Digby.
