Produced by Company Pictures for the ITV network, it was created by Tom Grieves and follows a fictional British Royal Family in the aftermath of the death of King James III and the succession of his 24-year-old son, Richard IV, played by Rupert Evans. It also stars Jane Asher and Zoe Telford. The series was filmed on location in Lithuania in 2007 and broadcast from January to March 2008. It was axed after one series due to low viewing figures.

De serie, geschreven door Tom Grieves, volgt het leven van een fictieve Britse Koninklijke familie na het overlijden van de koning, King James III en de troonsopvolging door zijn 24 jaar oude zoon, Richard. Tevens worden de intriges tussen de leden van de administratie van het koningshuis belicht. Tom Grieves zelf gaf aan hier te willen voortborduren op het succes van The West Wing. De reeks werd gefilmd op locatie in Litouwen in 2007. Na teleurstellende kijkcijfers werd na de eerste reeks van acht afleveringen door ITV geen tweede reeks besteld.
