has glosseng: The Tiah Piah Black War Shield Gourd Society, also known as the Gourd Society, is an intertribal organization of both Native American and non-Native American U.S. Military Veterans who participate in the society activities and practice the Gourd Dance at Powwows and in support of Native American events which honor military veterans and their families. The gourd dance originated with the Kiowa Tribe, however, many variants of the dance and societies now exist, and it is no longer a solely Kiowa Dance or Society and it not affiliated in modern times with the Kiowa Tribe.
