Related instruments include the Kazakh dombra, the Mongolian tovshuur and the Tuvan doshpuluur. The topshur's strings are tuned to an interval of a fourth. This instrument is usually used to accompany sung epics. The topshur is identical to the Khakas khomys (хомыс) and is played in a similar fashion. |
