has gloss	eng: The Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI) of Rhodesia from the United Kingdom was signed on November 11, 1965, by the administration of Ian Smith, whose Rhodesian Front party opposed black majority rule in the then British colony. Although it declared independence from the United Kingdom it maintained allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II. The British government, the Commonwealth, and the United Nations condemned the move as illegal. Rhodesia reverted to de facto and de jure British control as "the British Dependency of Southern Rhodesia" for a brief period in 1979 to 1980, before regaining its independence as Zimbabwe in 1980.

has gloss	nor: Rhodesias unilaterale uavhengighetserklæring, på engelsk kalt Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI), ble signert 11. november 1965 og erklærte Rhodesia uavhengig fra Storbritannia. Erklæringen ble utarbeidet under ledelse av Ian Smith som tilhørte partiet Rhodesian Front, som var motstander av flertallsstyre i den daværende britiske kolonien. Selv om Rhodesia erklærte seg uavhengig fra Storbritannia, ønsket man dronning Elizabeth II som fortsatt statsoverhode. Den britiske regjeringen og Samveldet av nasjoner fordømte erklæringen som ulovlig. Dagen etter signeringen vedtok FNs sikkerhetsråd resolusjon 216 som fordømte uavhengighetserklæringen som «skapt av en rasistisk minoritet». Økonomiske sanksjoner ble innført samme år. Disse var virksomme inntil 1980 og ble også utvidet til å gjelde kulturelle og sportslige arrangementer.
