WVIA is owned by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Educational Television Association along with its sister television station, WVIA-TV. The station's studios are based in Jenkins Township, near Pittston, with transmitter just south of Wilkes-Barre. Since 2001, it has operated a full-time satellite in Williamsport, WVYA-FM.
