has gloss	deu: Eine without output machine (WOM) ist ein theoretisches Konstrukt von Umberto Eco aus dessen Essay „The Wom“ aus dem Jahre 1993. Es bezeichnet eine Maschine, die zwar einen Input bekommt, dafür jedoch keinen Output erzeugt. Nach Eco ist diese Maschine nicht möglich. Das Gegenteil einer WOM wäre ein WIM (without input machine).
