has gloss	jpn: 助教（じょきょう、）は、日本の高等研究教育機関において、学生に対する教授、研究指導、または自らの研究に従事する教員のことであり、2007年4月1日より正式に導入された。大学の場合、現行の学校教育法では、教授、准教授の次の職階に位置する。助教はAssistant Professorとしばしば訳されるが，これは誤りである．Assistant Professorは主任として講義や研究室をもち，技師や研究生をも雇う権限を持つ．米国の場合，Assistant professorは，Full Professor, Associate Professorと同じ権限をもつ．助教にこのような機能はなく，職階的にはLectureが英訳として正しい．Associate Professorは職階的には講師の英訳となる．
