has gloss | eng: Sarcoscypha coccinea, commonly known as the scarlet elf cup, or the scarlet cup, is a species of fungus in the Sarcoscyphaceae family of the Pezizales order. First described in 1774, it is the type species of the genus Sarcoscypha. The saprobic fungus grows on decaying branches in damp spots on forests floor, and its fruit bodies are usually found during cooler months like winter and early spring.
