has gloss	eng: The acritic songs ( — frontiersmen songs) are the heroic or epic poetry that emerged from 10th century Byzantium, inspired by the almost continuous state of warfare with the Arabs in eastern Asia Minor. It gave birth to several Byzantine romances, most famous of all being the Digenis Acritas, setting up what is considered to be the beginnings of modern Greek literature.

Τα ακριτικά τραγούδια είναι τα παλαιότερα ελληνικά δημοτικά τραγούδια που σώζονται και συγγενεύουν με το έμμετρο αφήγημα του 12ου αι., το γνωστό ως «Έπος του Διγενή Ακρίτα».

has gloss	nor: Akritiske sanger (gresk ακριτικά τραγούδια — grensemennenes sanger) er heroisk eller episk diktning som oppsto fra 900-tallets Bysants, inspirert av bortimot konstant krigføring mot muslimer i det østlige Lilleasia. Diktningen ga flere bysantinske romanser, den mest kjente av dem alle er Digenis Acritas, noe som også er blitt betraktet som begynnelsen til den moderne greske litteratur.
