By 1952, there were 7 Akkaoui stores in Egypt: 5 stores on Fuad Street (now renamed to 26 July Street), 1 store on Kasr El Nil Street, and 1 store in Soliman Pasha Street (now renamed to Talaat Pasha Street). Only the Soliman Pasha store survived nationalization in 1956, but Nagui Akkaoui, the founder's son, opened a second store in the tony Heliopolis neighborhood in 1992.
