Each set shot has a maximum point value assigned for perfect execution, ranging from a 4-point maximum for lowest level difficulty shots, and climbing to an 11-point maximum for shots deemed highest in difficulty level. There is a total of 500 points available to a player, representing the combined value of a perfect score on all 76 shots, although not all games are played with the full shot catalogue. The governing body of the sport is the Confédération International de Billard Artistique (CIBA).

Ziel ist es dabei, mit seiner Spielkugel beide anderen Kugeln zu berühren. Als erschwerender Unterschied zu den anderen Varianten des Carambolagebillards gilt es, bestimmte Figurvorgaben, die in ihren Schwierigkeiten und Punktwertungen variieren, in maximal drei Versuchen zu lösen.

has gloss	nld: Kunststoten (ook wel artistiek biljart of billard artistique genoemd) is een vorm van carambolebiljart waarbij de ballen op voorgeschreven en op het laken aangegeven posities worden geplaatst en de speelbal de aanspeelballen en banden ook op voorgeschreven wijze moet raken. De speelbal moet bijvoorbeeld over een aanspeelbal heen springen, een bocht (om een pion) maken, drie keer achter elkaar dezelfde band raken of over negen banden gaan. Dit spel is technisch zeer moeilijk en wordt beoefend door een kleine groep liefhebbers.
