has gloss	deu: Rückstreuung (engl. Backscatter) bezeichnet den Anteil einer Welle oder eines Partikelstroms, den ein getroffenes Objekt in die Richtung der Quelle zurückwirft. Beispiel: ein Radar sendet einen stark gebündelten Puls Richtung Flugzeug. Dessen unregelmäßige Hülle reflektiert das Signal in alle Richtungen und nur ein Teil, die Rückwärtsstreuung, gelangt wieder zur Radar-Station. Der Begriff findet in vielen Bereichen der Wissenschaft, unter anderem in der Elektrotechnik, der Physik oder der Astronomie, Anwendung.
