has glosseng: Canadian Forces Search and Rescue is a Search and Rescue operation within the Canadian Forces. The unit was established in 1949 under both the Royal Canadian Navy and RCAF, it was unified under Air Command of the Canadian Forces in 1968. It is a series of squadrons operating across Canada. The squadrons mostly provide maritime rescue, but also operate in remote areas. CFSAR provides assistance to civilian agencies which lack the resources and equipment to conduct a large scale rescue operation. CFSAR has 750 members of which 130 are SAR technicians.
