The formative core of the party was a splinter group from the Canadian Nationalist Party that found the principles of corporativism to be more important than the largely racial motivations of the Nationalist Party. This disposition is highlighted in one official statement that "anti-semitism was a symptom of Germany not of Fascism". The party was founded as the British Empire Union of Fascists and was affiliated with the British Union of Fascists. It later became known as the Canadian Union of Fascists and Canadian Union for short. It published its own newspaper called "The Thunderbolt".

has gloss	ita: Il Partito Fascista Canadese è stato un partito politico fascista fondato nella città Canadese di Winnipeg. Il nucleo formativo del partito è stata una scheggia fuoriuscita degli elementi più "di sinistra" del Partito Nazionalista Canadese. Fu difatti fondato sui principi tipici del fascismo (corporativismo, terzoposizionismo, meritocrazia) e del distributismo, più accentuati nei suoi programmi rispetto al nazionalismo semplice del Partito Nazionalista. Questa disposizione è evidenziata in una dichiarazione ufficiale che "lantisemitismo è unideologia della Germania, non del fascismo". Il nome iniziale del partito fu British Empire Union of Fascists ed è stato sempre in forte contatto con il British Union of Fascists. In seguito divenne noto come Canadian Union of Fascists e Canadian Union abbreviato. Ha pubblicato il proprio giornale chiamato "The Thunderbolt". Ebbe rapporti anche con il Partito di credito sociale del Canada ed il Movimento canadese di credito sociale coi quali condivideva le teorie economiche di Clifford Hugh Douglas.
