Powstał w ramach Fundación Educativa Pestalozzi w 1992 w ramach alternatywnego projektu uniwersyteckiego w Tumbaco. W przypadku tego systemu wiele grup z całego Ekwadoru utworzyło krajową sieć wymiany dóbr i usług.
