It is notable in being aimed at the general public, compared with other festivals, and many events held in the Old Market Square where any members of the public can participate freely. The festival receives little funding from the videogame industry and is concerned with experiments in how videogame culture can be made accessible. The festival is directed by Iain Simons working from Nottingham Trent University. It has been described as the Sundance of the videogames world |
