| has gloss | eng: King Arthur is a giant sequoia located in Garfield Grove, the grove is near the town of Three Rivers in California. 2,330 acres (9.4 km2) of it lies in Sequoia National Park and 572 in the Giant Sequoia National Monument at the Sierra Nevada range in eastern California, United States. The tree is the 8th largest giant sequoia in the world. The tree was first discovered in 1949 but only seen from far away; the hiker had told a ranger that he saw a huge tree. In 1978 Wendell Flint, Bob Walker and Gus Boik found the tree and named it King Arthur. The tree is the 9th largest giant sequoia. Its base up to about 50 feet (15 m) rivals the General Sherman for total mass. |
