has gloss	eng: The State of Illinois has several colloquially defined regions: Chicagoland is located in the northeastern corner of the state, including seven counties and the City of Chicago. Two of the Quad Cities are located in the lower northwest of the state on the bank of the Mississippi River. Northern Illinois includes the above regions and the area around Rockford. Champaign-Urbana, is located in the central region of the state. It is centered at the University of Illinois. Central Illinois is located across the center of the state. Metro-East is an area just east of St. Louis and it includes six counties, with five of them in the St. Louis metropolitan area. River Bend is centered around Alton. It includes 3 counties. Southern Illinois is located at the southern tip of the state.
