| has gloss | eng: Rangzen Shonu (: "Freedom Youth") is a now defunct Tibetan rock and roll band. Teresa Teng reportedly integrated some of Rangzen Shonu's signature style after hearing a smuggled cassette in 1988. Rangzen Shonu is best known for the unique sound of Tibetan lyrics accompanied by acoustic guitars rather than traditional Tibetan instruments. The Tibetan word Rangzen in recent years has come to mean "Independence", a reference to the continued Chinese occupation of Tibet. |
