has gloss	eng: Republic was a station stop along the Ronkonkoma Branch for employees of the Fairchild Engine & Airplane Manufacturing Company on December 9, 1940. It was closed in 1986. This station was used by employees of the nearby Republic Airport. Due partially to recent redevelopment in the area, rumors surface every now and then of the LIRR reopening this station as a transportation hub, although these rumors go as far back as September 14, 1973.
