has glosseng: Scott Free is a Chicago-based punk/folk/rap artist. The music video to his rap song Beat The Rap was on rotation on Black Entertainment Television in 1984. He received two Outmusic Awards in 2005. He was named Outmusician of the Year for his CD They Call Me Mr. Free and his community activism. His song "Another Day of the Cruelty" was named Out Song of the Year. He was inducted into the Stonewall Societys LGBT Hall Of Fame in 2005. He was named the Windy City Times 2001 Artist of the Year.He hosts the annual ALT Q Festival (an LGBT music festival) at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, started in 2001 (originally called the Queer Is Folk Festival). He is the host and curator of Homolatte', the longest-running weekly queer performance series in the country, at the Big Chicks/Tweet in Chicago, also started in 2001.
