has gloss	eng: A shiplift is a modern alternative for a slipway, a floating dry dock or a graving dry dock. A shiplift is used to dry dock and launch ships. It consists of a structural platform that is lifted and lowered exactly vertical, synchronously by a number of hoists. First, the platform is lowered underwater, then the ship is floated above the support, and finally the platform with shipsupport and ship is lifted and the ship is brought to the level of the quay.

has gloss	nld: Een schepenlift, niet te verwarren met een scheepslift (soort sluis), is een moderne manier om schepen droog te zetten en weer te water te laten. Als zodanig is een schepenlift een alternatief voor een droogdok, een drijvend dok of een helling. Een schepenlift wordt gebruikt op een scheepswerf. De meeste schepenliften worden tegenwoordig geclassificeerd of gecertificeerd door LRoS en worden dan "Mechanical Lift Dock"genoemd. Een kleinere versie is een Broeklift of Schroevendok, waarmee uitsluitend een voor- of achterschip uit het water wordt getild.
