has glosseng: The St. Lawrence Choir/Choeur Saint-Laurent is an 80 voice choir composed of both males and females. It is recognized as one of the best amateur choral ensembles in Canada. It was founded in 1972 by the citizens of the West Island of Montreal. In 1983, the choir relocated to downtown Montreal. From the beginning and until his retirement in 2007 Iwan Edwards had been its conductor. Beginning in 2007, Marika Kuzma took the position of artistic director. After Kuzma's return to Berkeley, California in summer of 2008, Michael Zaugg took the position which also encompasses the role of choir director for the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal.
