Tunnel Through Time tells the story of a boy named Bob Miller, and his scientist father who has invented a "time ring", capable of arriving at specific moments in time. Bob, his friend, and his friends father Doc Tom, an archeologist, go through time in search of the rings inventor, Sam Miller, after he fails to return from his initial trip back to the Mesozoic period to examine and document living dinosaurs. The remainder of the story recounts their efforts to find Bob's father as they move forward in time through the "time ring" to different periods in pre-history, having different adventures along the way.
