| has gloss | eng: Twins is an album by jazz saxophonist and composer Ornette Coleman. Recorded between 1959 and 1961 for Atlantic, it was only released in 1971. The first track, "First Take", was literally a first take from the Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation sessions (later included as a bonus track on the CD reissue of that album), featuring the double quartet and exuberant improvisation that characterise it. The other tracks are outtakes from the sessions that contributed to the This Is Our Music, The Shape of Jazz to Come and Ornette! albums, and show a more "conventional" kind of avant-garde jazz, all of them in a quartet form centering around Coleman and Don Cherry, with either Charlie Haden or Scott LaFaro on the bass, and Ed Blackwell or Billy Higgins keeping time on the drums. |
